Consultancy is perhaps the single biggest earner in the selfemployment business. It embraces diverse areas such as marketing, public relations, security, health, fitness, interior decoration, managemnet, self-improvement, general business and goes on and on.
A person can usually set up shop as a consultant in one area or at most two.More is definitely not wise. Undoubtedly, the consulting business generates hundreds of millions of dollars every year. While many consultants just get by quite a few make mega bucks and even end up as respected gurus in their various fields.

Many consultants set wrong priorities or they allow themselves get distracted from what they set as prioriteis. You should overhaul your practice and make these three goals your priority
1. Getting New Professional Knowledge- Superior knowledge keeps you ahead as a consultant. It should be very important to you to keep ahead of the competition in terms of evolving knowledge in your field .
2. Keeping ahead of trends- As a consultant you should always watch out for changes in your field. Be the first to introduce profitable changes. Always strive to discover early on what your clients will need in future as against the present.
3. Client prospecting-This should be a very vital aspect of your consulting business. Clients are the lifeblood of any consulting business and you must continually seek more clients to avoid the risk of stagnation and eventual death. Develop a means of regularly getting clients . It could be through refferals or lead generation.
Nothing less than 40% of your time should be devoted to attracting clients. IF you need help get a marketing agent to get prospects and set up appointments for you at a percentage of whatever he brings in.
