You might have missed the best songs during the week due to work and all but its okay because we got it all rounded up for you. In this edition, Ciara covers the Rolling Stones and Beyoncé’s latest Drake collaboration is officially here.
1. Ciara, “Paint It Black”
Ciara covered this Rolling Stones classic for the soundtrack of Vin Diesel’s new movie The Last Witch Hunter. That is a combination of words I never could have foreseen writing prior to this week, but still, this song is good. It’s spooky and kind of psychedelic.
2. Drake feat. Beyoncé, “Can I”
This song leaked back in May, but this week Drake premiered the ~official~ version on his OVO Sound radio show. Beyoncé doesn’t really do much, but is that going to stop you from listening to this anyway? Probably not.
3. Ex Hex, “All Kindsa Girls”
Ex Hex has been covering this ’70s jam by the Real Kids at their live shows for a while, but now they’ve put it online for your listening pleasure. It’ll make you dream of a world where every song rocked this hard.
4. Ellie Goulding, “Something in the Way You Move”
Ellie reteamed with producer Greg Kurstin (who cowrote and produced her 2013 hit “Burn”) for the latest song from her upcoming album Delirium. It’s a little more upbeat than “On My Mind,” though both songs seem designed to play on a loop in your head immediately upon first listen.
5. Annie, “Dadaday”
Remember Annie, the Norwegian pop wizard who gave the world “Chewing Gum” way back in 2004? She never really stopped recording, and next week she’ll release a new EP called The Endless Vacation featuring this song, a mesmerizing electropop tune that kind of sounds like Kylie Minogue if she’d taken some downers. Basically, it’s perfect.
Keep up with us, and we’ll keep you updated.
