Cheapest Data Plans for MTN, Airtel, Glo, Ntel, and 9Mobile Nigeria 2017

Smartphones have come to become part of many of us. We use it in our bedroom, school, restroom, office; infact, almost everywhere. As you already know, smartphone without data / internet connection is boring! Most of the features of smartphones that make them work properly requires data, as such we are always conscious of the amount of data we consume.

We are going to look at the latest, best, most affordable and cheapest data plans across all major mobile networks in Nigeria (MTN, Glo, Airtel, Ntel and (mobile), to help you get the best value for your money.


For most occasional and regular users, MTN has a data plan that suits. They have now included data plans that cater for SME (data plans that allocates 10GB upwards), so whether you are a heavy user or light user MTN covers you.

For light data users, the best MTN data plan is 1.5GB Plan which costs ₦1,000 Naira. For Normal and regular data users, the best MTN data plan is 3.5GB Plan which costs ₦2,000 Naira. For heavy data users, you can either choose the 10GB MTN data plan which costs ₦5,000 Naira or the 22GB MTN data plan which costs ₦10,000 Naira

Airtel has various data plans that caters for both normal and heavy users, with data plan of up to 200GB at ₦126,000 Naira (Dial *408#), it may not be ideal for SME and very heavy users because of the cost.
For Android phone owners, Airtel have a good plan called Android 1.0 that gives you 1.5GB for ₦1,000 Naira, Android 2.0 that gives you 3.5GB for ₦2,000 Naira, Android 2.5 that gives you 5GB for ₦2,500 Naira and Android 3.5 that gives you 7GB for ₦3,500 Naira

Ntel is a new entrant in the Nigeria’s telecommunication space. They are still rolling out their services, and is only available in Lagos, Port-Harcourt and Abuja with other states coming soon. See the areas currently covered by Ntel.

Ntel offers high speed 4G LTE data plans, they are focused on heavy users. There service is also availbale to only LTE enabled devices. Smartphone data monthly gives you unlimited data for 30 days at ₦12,500 Naira. Smartphone data weekly gives you unlimited data for 7 days at ₦3,750 Naira. Smartphone lite gives you unlimited data for 2 days at ₦1,500 Naira.


Note: Glo offers the most affordable and cheapest data plans in Nigeria for light, normal and heavy data users, followed by Airtel.
