The well received October 1 movie produced by Kunle Afoloyan has been adjudged the best feature film of the 2014 edition of the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) which held in Calabar, Cross River State between November 9 and 16, 2014.
The movie, starring Sadiq Daba in the lead role of Inspector Waziri, was voted best feature film of AFRIFF out of over 24 feature films in competition.
The movie, which Afolayan said cost $2million to make, also got the award for Best Script and Best Actor for Sadiq Daba. However, despite being the best film at AFRIFF, it failed to win the award for Best Nigerian Movie, the Audience Choice award, the Jury Award and the award for Directing.
The award for Best Director went to Nigerian international, Andrew Dosunmu for his effort on the well-helmed movie Mother of George, while the low budget horror-thriller by CJ Obasi, Ojoju got the award for Best Nigerian Movie.
